OT: Can't seem to log in with FF or Chrome.

Post by *kunkel321 »

Neither FireFox 14.0.1 nor Chrome 20.0.blah allow me to log in. Are others seeing this? FF is new (to my PC) but Chrome worked in the past, then stopped when I installed FF (??). Am using IE to post this. Anyone know if there is a shared setting that would block cookies for FF and Crome but not IE?

I have just tested in the following browsers:
  • FireFox 14.0.1
  • Google Chrome 20.0.1132.57 m
  • SeaMonkey 2.11
  • Apple Safari 5.1.7 (7534.57.2)
  • Opera 12.00 Build 1467
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 32bit and 64bit Edition
And I can login with all of them.

Try restart your browsers and then delete your cookies before loggin in - I have had that problem with IE 7.0

In addition to Peter's correct advice:

Clearing the browser cache sometimes makes things work miraculously as well.

Yes, I can confirm this unusual behavior with Chrome. There are some problems with the cookies, but after you delete them the ones that belong to ghisler.ch everything will work just fine. You will be able to log in just like before. This issue also sometimes affects the unread posts too. If you read one post it will not turn read, it will still remain unread, with the orange topic icon.

Just clean the cookies. It saved me a bunch of times on this forum.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I deleted my cookies, etc, and it seems to work fine now. I think when I installed FF, I instructed it to use the cookies, etc from Chrome.... Perhaps that is what caused my problems.
