How to start FTP Search

Post by *exeqo »

Hello,

I can connect to my FTP sites without a probem. However when I try to start a search (alt + F7) , the search path remains empty. Whatever I fill out, I can't get FTP search to start.
Is FTP search not supported or am I missing something here?

I'm using TC8.0.

thanks,

Arne

The search path should be prefilled with the number of your FTP connection (0 if you only have one open connection) and the directory. For example:

0:/public_html/
or just
0:/

is that not the case by you?

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.

Sadly enough nothing is filled out.
I connect to the server via network neighborhood, all the sites included in the ftp account list fine. I can browse files and folders. I activate the search function, nothing is prefilled.

If I enter 0:/ manually, I get a "'connection lost. Reconnect?" dialog. This doesn't do very much :/

Just to make it clear what I am talking about - see: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/ftpsearch.png

The "Search in:" field is automatically filled out with the current path when I open the Find Files dialog by pressing Alt+F7.
I connect to the server via network neighborhood,
Hmm - are you not using the FTP-connection (press Ctrl+F) ?

How do you access FTP-servers via Network neighbourhood? - by the means of some file system plugin?

Ok thanks, CTRL+F did the trick. Apparently I connected through an ftp connection created in windows explorer. Those connections show up in Network Neighborhood. You can just double-click such an ftp connection. You get a login dialog and can connect just fine. But as it shows, without search, and it also opens a normal explorer window.

Anyway, issue solved. Thanks again!
