For ANSI encodings, the encoding depends on the chosen font. Try a font like Terminal.

But I frequent compare files with ANSI or ASCII encodings and often choose different fonts tiresomely.
I'd like to choose ANSI or ASCII encoding like "TC Lister"-> "Options"-> "ANSI, ASCII"
Therewith search (Ctrl-F) for ASCII encoding not work right.
