One thing I find myself doing allot is renaming single files where I just want to rename the file itself, leaving the extension intact.
Whereas Shift+F6 will highlight the entire name, I wish there were a way to only highlight the base. Then I could just type the new base name and press enter. Currently I have to carefully cursor back and remove the base element then type in the new name.
Suggestion: rename file, excluding extension

The option you wish is already builtin: Options > Operation > Select only the file name when renaming (not the extension).
Additionally you can toggle between full selection and selection without extension using rename hotkey again (Shift+F6 or in my case F2
).

PS: This has nothing to do with bugs and should be moved to normal forum.

Woo Hoo! Thanks!!! I figured it was such an obscure thing that it certainly wasn't already supported. I did look through the internal commands list first but didn't think about looking at options.
My bad on the post location. I saw the Total Commander bugs and suggestions header but failed to look far enough down the list to see the suggestions forum.
