I am sure this thread will be deleted soon but I just wanted to say, as I first time member on this forum, a big thank you.
I was first introduced to Windows Commander in 1997/98 when I worked for a subsidary of a German bespoke software company on support and training. 2 German software engineers introduced me to WC and it was so much better than on the Windows 95 explorer that I was using. It was a refreshing return to the file explorer in Windows 3.1 and even DOS when I first started using PCs in 1990.
I hadn't realised it until now but I have been downloading this small and wonderful piece of software for nearly 15 years. So much has changed in the computer world since 1997 and I wish I could return to those days. Playing Dark Forces on a 386/486 or Pentium was the golden days of recent computing. My first computer was a ZX81 and then a Commodore 64 (not a 64, it was a Commodore Plus 2) in 1984.
Christian Ghisler has always been here, developing new versions of his, now, retro software, but he has shown that old doesn't mean bad and that a good and original idea is always a very workable and useful solution.
I only have one comment now- why isn't there a WC for Linux Ubuntu or any distro?
Regards and good luck for the future.
Thank you Mr Ghisler
