Camera doesn't show

Post by *Skodkim »

Hi

A couple of years ago I had a camera, which - when I connected it to the PC with a USB cable - used to show in Total Commander as a removable device/drive. This made it really easy for me to transfer pictures to the PC's HD.

At some point (maybe because I switched cameras or updated Total Commander) this stopped working and now the camera doesn't show any more. If I use Win7's standard Windows Explorer it shows up but I hate using that (has been totally addicted to Total Commander since the good old Norton Commander days).

Can anyone explain whats going on? Is there a way to make the devices show in Total Commander?

Have you tried to run cm_OpenDrives from the command line?

In the navigation pane down the left-hand side, in the Computer section.
'Brandname Digital XYZ Model Camera'

Under that I see 'Removable storage'; under that are two folders DCIM and MISC.
Inside DCIM I have CANON102; inside that are the photograph jpegs.

TC will do the same if you look under the top-level breadcrumb arrowhead, to the left of the drive letter, and under Computer.
TC displays the filenames - but not other detail. And, I can't get it to display thumbnails.

Windows Explorer shows many more details.
