Quick search troubles, how to use QS correctly?

Hello,
I have troubles on some computers with the quick search. On some the quicksearch hide the items which do not fit the search letters, on others it is not hidden and it is only jumping among items.

I prefer to hide not fit items but I do not know how to set it. On both systems I use alt+letters.

Could you please help me? I use the same installation package.

You can enable/disable filtering by pressing Ctrl+S.

There is also a button just in the quick search window which toggles the new mode.
