Can't delete Windows.old folder using TC. Explorer does!

Post by *sidefx88 »

Just reinstalled Windows 7 and try to delete the folder which Windows setup generates (Windows.old, containing all previous user data).

Using TC 8.01 it was impossible. TC can't even calculate total size of the folder. It generates a loop scanning subfolders recursively because Windows.old folder contains the Users folder, which contains <LNK> folders inside any 'user folder', i.e: My Documents.LNK, My Music.LNK, etc...

Just tried to delete the whole folder using Explorer and worked fine.

Any suggestion to solve (thru Configuration)?
It is a bug or a normal TC behaviour?

Cheers!

This is unfortunately a bug in the Windows 8 installer - it creates infinite loops in this folder. Sorry, no solution with TC.

Thanks!

I suspected it was a Windows 7 installer bug, but just asking here because Windows Explorer could delete the folder TC couldn't :(

Maybe you've tried to delete it w/o elevation? TC is able to handle reparse points normally so it shouldn't hang while deleting (not counting).
