You can write any batch that will backup your configuration files and start it when you need it. You may backup all files that you wish (main ini, bars, plugins ini etc).

Different users have own placement of backup files so it is impossible to make generic backup that will work always.

so it is need an backup possibility, indeed, for not need to create batch.

My Total Commader it is in
\\Linuxserver\Windows\Portable\TotalCommand\
and over unc-path dont works batch-Files bat/cmd files or someting ..
therefore it is need an internal command in Totalcmd.

Only because it create some own batchfiles or something therefor,
they thinking others, others dont need not some possible.
The poll was an fault, because, some other think only for self :\

"i be a Poweruser, i dont need this.. others.. bahh they dont need it also.."
humm.. and over network.. you are maybe be Powerusers.. but work not directly over Network.. ? You need it ever to hang it in over an Drive ?
bahh Power user..

Batch files work on UNC paths, too, of course. Maybe you need something like

Code: Select all

%~dp0
to set a path relative to your batch file. You can use

Code: Select all

pushd
# and
popd
that will automatically connect your UNC path as network drive (and disconnect it afterwards).

You see, there are many options, none of which need an internal backup command. Just ask if you need any help with the batch commands, syntax and so on. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can assist with that.

ah a must to hang it in as drive ??
bahh forget it, only because Microsoft wants it to have an f.. Drive ??
bahh.. i don't use this ..
Total Commander is also because microsoft wanted renamed ..

this is exactly the reason why shold be cmd_BackupConf
No Batch need, therefore should be in the Commander !

and by the way, my whole portable Programms and other
files it is not need drives Letters ! Only Kiddy's need an ABC'
The Drive-idea from Microsoft is crap !
And did you see my Member-time ?
i be cince 92 in the Net .. I know why i say what ..
And if anyone come again with F... Batchfiles.. should think
about if he/she be a real Powermember !

The installer does not overwrite modified .bar files, and doesn't delete ini files. So these shouldn't be lost unless you uninstall TC and check to remove all settings. Maybe they are still there, but TC just can't find them?

Hi Christian :)

yes = (" ich hab damit grumgesuggelt ");
suggel = ("und hab verloren *g*")

backupknopf=(" währe halt echt besser gewesen, wenn ich da n backupknopf gehabt hätte *s*");
no = ("alles noch da") ;

$German = if (yes == 1) {"suggel"}
else backup == 1{ "no" };

$tanlsate_english($German) *g*

ne, ja.. die config files schon, aber die standart bar nich mehr ..
bin in die install.cab reingegangen und rübercopiert .. ich weis,
war n fehler.. *g*

so, for more savety for the configurationsfiles , maybe with path for
backupfiles or some play arounds .. but if it is portable and the admin or
user play around with it, take the case he copy it ever around,
forget if it is close and copy on it or something mistakes,
want it better for have an backup possible. Soll heisen,
Or even in the subfolder of totalcommander

and this is once who it is not there, not need, but it is usable and existand, whant it use 1000 times .. ! i bet with you ..

liebe Grüße
Blacky
