[TC 8.5 ß1] Explain exclamation meaning mark in tooltip

There is a new feature in TC 8.5 which is described as

Code: Select all

26.02.13 Added: Show exclamation mark to the left of some checkboxes to warn user about possible problems: Copy: keep relative dirs from branch view, ZIP: not preserving path, not storing recursively, Unzip: Not unpacking paths, overwriting files without confirmation, FTP upload: Converting to lowercase, Search: In archives (32/64)
I just started a search and there was an exclamation mark near to search in archives. The problem here is that there is no explanation displayed why there is an exclamation mark.
I really think the basic idea of this feature is very good but currently it's not yet self-explanatory.

My suggestion goes here:
Display a simple tooltip when hovering over the exclamation mark explaining why the exclamation mark is displayed.

I tried to locate these marks but with no success. Please describe how I can see them... There are no any marks in dialogs. Maybe I need some special theme?

Support, a tooltip will be helpful
Please describe how I can see them...
It is a little bit tricky ;)
You can see them only if an option is still enabled by a previous run.

e.g.
1. run a search with "Search in archives" option enabled (no mark yet)
2. close search dialog
3. reopen search dialog (now mark is shown)

Wow, thank you, sqa_wizard, I see it!
BTW I think red color would be more noticeable...

But is some kind of standard to use yellow and red would look fucking hell ugly :D

Red is more for errors, yellow is for warnings. It should just warn the user that an unusual option was set in a previous operation.

I still think a tooltip which explains the exclamation mark would be very helpful. Would do you think?

+1. I also seen an exclamation mark in a dialog while doing usual tasks in TC, but had no clue at all what could that mean. :D
By the way its color is totally fine IMO; red is for errors, it shouldn't be changed - fine as is.

After working for many weeks with this new feature I have to say it doesn't work so well for me in certain cases. This case is when I already the decision to just confirm a dialog (for example in unpack files). I think the problem is that the exclmation mark is not enough to hold me back to continue into the unwanted operation (unpack without paths in the example above).

I think we need something visually more eye-catching like another background color.
Another way could be to actually warn the user in a modal dialog in the case that the dialog was opened with the 'special option'.
