Total Commander & deleting 3000+ files on SAMBA share.

Post by *ross104 »

Hello!

TC 8.01 64 Bit Edition

Have an Ubuntu home server with a SAMBA share.

When I try to delete 3000+ files on ubuntu share via TC - it deletes 100-300 files and I get an error that "Could Not Delete a directory...".

After clicking cancel and giving a command for delete again - it deletes 100-300 files and I get an error that "Could Not Delete a directory...".

So to delete 3000+ files I have to give delete command couple of times...

When I check "Delete via explorer" checkbox - delete process goes ok, and all files are deleted in one thread...

So it is definitely TC issue... Could it be fixed?

Sorry, I don't think that there is anything I can do - it seems that the Samba server gets behind with the actual deleting of the files inside the directory, and when TC then tries to delete the actual directory, some files are still there. I have no idea how the Explorer method handles this, it's not documented anywhere.

Maybe there is a reason to add something like "Delete files on samba shares via explorer" in settings? :)
