I'm trying to connect to Windows 7 share via LAN plugin using the admin-privileged username which has not a password.

1. If I specify username in parameters of LAN's server I get request for password when trying to connect. Neither empty line nor any symbol combination fit. But after hitting OK button I see the password request again without any error message.

2. If I do not specify username I still get password request and see the same behavior of TC. Can't understand even which password I should type.

What should I do to connect to Windows 7 share under user with no password?

Server OS: Windows 7 Home Basic x86 SP1
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S II
Phone OS: Android 4.0.3
TC 2.03 public beta 2
LAN plugin 2.03

P. S. TC works correctly in the same situation under Windows XP.

To my knowledge, it isn't possible to connect remotely to an account which doesn't have a password set, at least not on Windows Vista/7.

It should not be:
"...By default, an account with a blank password can be used only for logging on at the console. It cannot be used for network access."

Well, network access is exactly what you are trying to do with the LAN plugin. It doesn't work without a passwords. Only interactive login does work, as you quoted yourself.

The problem resolved. Three steps required:

1. Make network home or working.
2. Turn off password protected sharing.
3. Share folder for Everyone.

After that LAN plugin doesn't require user or password and correctly logs in.

That worked for me too (Windows 8 with no password)

Just to clarify a little better (especially for W8 users):
In "Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center"
1) My network is set as a "Private network"
2) In "Change advanced sharing settings / All networks" I checked "Turn off password protected sharing"
3) This way I can see (in my tablet through TC) all my PC's HD and partitions but I can only access the ones that I set as "shared".

but connecting in such way (without password) has one issue: now you can't play/view media files via LAN plagin. I/O error in all media players… can author fix it?

Make sure to set a password - the lan plugin will ask for it, and the latest version now also supports streaming when the password isn't stored.

no, it dosn't. I connect as Guest and can't play video files via LAN plagin. other file managers work fine…

more exact: it works in win 7, but dosn't in win xp sp3

Sorry, guest isn't currently supported for streaming because of the missing password.

it is correct, that Win7 and Win8 do no allow a blank password for network login. But this can be changed with the Policy Editor:

You can disable blank password restrictions by using a policy. To locate and change this policy:
1. Click Start, point to Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK to start the Group Policy Editor.
2. Open Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only.
3. Double-click Limit local account use of blank passwords to consol logon only.
4. Click Disabled, and then click OK.
5. Quit Group Policy Editor.

Yes, I'm aware of that. The problem is that the plugin cannot currently distinguish between a connection which doesn't require a password, and one which requires one but the user doesn't want to save it.
