CRC check and edit CRC comment?

Post by *Muyfa123 »

Is there some way to make it so that CRC check (not create) can just be "executed" instead of using a command, eg. like associating .SFV and/or .MD5 with Total Commander?

Also, are there any setting for the default comment in .SFV-files?

EDIT: Also, are there any hotkey commands for creating/checking. SFV?

You can simply doubleclick .md5, .svf, .sha file and TC will execute CRC check.

There are internal commands cm_CRCcreate and cm_CRCcheck, you can add them to buttonbar or set hotkeys using Configuration dialog, Misc tab.

Are you sure?

When I press enter on the .SFV, Windows dialogue about "what program do you want to use to open this?" pops up...

Yes, I am sure. Tested with clear TC configuration with both TC 8.01x32 and TC 8.50b3x32. Please try to start TC with parameter /i=X:\Path\To\New.ini in order to test your TC with clear configuration (maybe problem is in configuration).

Weird. I'll have to try it again when I get home... I'll let you know about my miserable fails. ;-)

And the hotkeys are there? I'll just have to take another look then.

Do you know anything about .SFV file comment? Can the default comment be changed at all?

TC even shows special icon for such files (with sigma symbol).

Misc page allows you to set hotkey for ANY internal or external (defined by you) command.

I don't think you can change default SVF comment.

Ok, the .SFV works as you said. Very nice.

I can not find the settings for hotkeys thou? Can you give any more pointers as how to find it? I am using the latest stabel version - 8.01.

EDIT: Nevermind. I found it. This program grows better by the day! :-D

Menu 'Configuration - Options...', then Misc. page (bottom one), locate 'Redefine hotkeys' group.
Choose desired hotkey and press magnifying glass button.
Type 'crc' to filter commands, you'll see two commands mentioned above. Click cm_CRCcreate one and then OK.
Confirm binding by clicking green checkmark button.

I noticed that WIN-SFV32 v1.0 is used for CRC. Are there any reason for not using the latest v1.1a? Don't know if there's any downside to v1.0, but WIN-SFV32 was one of the tools I tried out before using TC.

If you mean "; Generated by WIN-SFV32 v1.0" in sfv files created by TC, it's just a fake version string. It's there because WIN-SFV32 insists on having it there, to be able to identify the file as sfv. I don't think many people care about compatibility with WIN-SFV32 today, but it might have been different when TC first added support for it. Personally I don't think I ever used WIN-SFV32 since TC started supporting sfvs. :)
