Copy/move dialogue: Pre-select possible answers to popups

Post by *AchimS »

Hello everyone,

Something that's been bugging me for a long time now is an issue with the copy/move dialogue. I'm running a Home Theater PC with several hard drives that works as a NAS as well, and, now and then, I want to make a backup on external drives to be stored elsewhere.

And here the challenge begins. Popups like "Do you really want to delete xyz.ab?", "The name/directory of uhd.ao is too long. This might cause incompatibility with some old system. Do you want to keep the name?", "You cannot do this! -> Get admin rights?" are a pain in the ass and happen too frequently to not post this in the forum.

What I would like to have: An easy way to say that I want to generally ignore file name length (e.g). And I want an option to make some common popups appear right at the beginning of a copy/move action so TC grabs admin rights and will ask me what should happen to pre-existing files and the like.

How do you think about this?

Best,
Achim

This sounds promising, although I wonder whether this applies to the background transfer manager as well?

No it doesn't - since the order is defined by the listbox in background transfer manager, it cannot simply change the copy order by itself...

In this case, I have to re-suggest what I stated above:

Please include a feature such that I may pre-select to copy/move files as admin, keep file names under certain/all circumstances, also delete invisible files etc.
