different hard drive icons according to letter?

Post by *Blackout »

hi,

I understand you can set different icons in Total Commander for hard drives, according to the TYPE of hard drive (eg one type for network drives, one type for local hard drives, etc).

but I have over 10 network drives in my list. How do I set a custom icon to the network hard drive letter W: for instance? so I can spot it easier from the other 9 network drives in my list?

surely this is possible? (it is reasonably easy to do in Windows Explorer)...

many thanks,
Blackout

hi ghistler, thank you for responding.

is it at least possible to choose a setting to make Total Commander at least show the Windows Explorer icons for drives, instead of the ones you have chosen and cannot be changed? most other software (eg Photoshop, Cubase etc) show the Windows Explorer icons for drives, whatever they have been set to show. So if i change the icon for eg Drive W in Windows to Homer Simpson, then it is shown in all other programs as Homer Simpson for drive W...except Total Commander! why is Total Commander not consistent with other windows programs with its drive icons?

is this possible to be a setting please at least for Total Commander to be consistent with the drive icons shown like all other Windows programs?

Kind Regards,
Darren.

I could show them easily in the dropdown combobox, because I could refresh them when the user opens the list. But I cannot show them on the drive buttons, because there is no notification when an icon is changed - e.g. when a CD with a different icon is inserted.

hi ghisler, thanks again for responding. you could just make it load the windows icons for the hard drives when Total Commander starts. That would surely be enough.

it would not be hard to restart Total Commander to see new icons if they are changed. but it would be very, very useful to have the icons look different colors or shapes to make it easier to pick out drives.

there are so many wonderful options in TC and ability to change custom icons, etc it is very surprising that this is not the case for drive icons. I hope you implement this in the future.

hope you have a great new year ghisler :)
