Microsoft hidden folder not shown in TC x64 under Win8.1

Post by *dennis48755 »

Hi,

I was looking for the Startup folder in Windows 8.1, after much frustration I turned on show hidden in Windows Explorer and sure enough there it was.

64 bit Win8.1, TC (x64) 8.51 (Show hidden-checked). In both ProgramData and Users\currentuser\AppData\Roaming TC does not list the Microsoft folder where Windows Explorer does.

This behavior occurs in Windows 10 preview also, but not Windows 7.

There is no such problem here under Windows 8.1 x64 and Windows 10 !
The following entries are copied from TC to the clipboard:
c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\
c:\Users\horst_000\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

And there is no problem at all to show or find this folders.
Of course show hidden files and show system files are enabled in TC

dennis48755,
In Windows 7 this folder has system attribute and not hidden one, and most probably in Windows 8.1 too. Have you tried enabling system files in TC?

Thanks Guys,

Sure enough I had Show system files unchecked.

I new it would be a user (me) problem. As many times that I looked at the Display Options my eyes just scanned down the boxes on the left edge.

Thanks again.

Some time ago it only was a single checkbox that switched both hidden and system files. But users wanted to switched them separately so it was split. Only internal command cm_SwitchHidSys still switches both.
