Can I change a setting to effect the output name of a file?

Post by *louwin »

I want to copy a file from the left panel to the right panel so I select the file in the left panel and set the destination folder/directory in the right panel and press the "F5 Copy" on the bottom.

For example,

The source filename is "Some.Series.S09E07.Some.Title.mp4" and the right panel is at "o:\SomeSeries\Season 9\". This gives me a dialog with the destination name full path selected(high lighted).... o:\SomeSeries\Season 9\Some.Series.S09E07.Some.Title.mp4

Is there anyway I can get ONLY the filename "Some.Series.S09E07.Some.Title" selected(high lighted)?

I have selected the file in the left panel and the destination folder in the right panel so I don't want either changed. I just want to change

"Some.Series.S09E07.Some.Title" to "9E07 Different Name" for instance?

I realise I can "click and drag" in the dialog string and type the "9E07 Different Name" (which I do do) but it would be convenient not to have to select the just filename each time and have TC pre do it for me. :)

Is there some setting in the config file I can change or some addon?

Press F5 or F6 multiple times in the copy dialog to cycle through the different selections: file name only (without extension), file name with extension and full path. This works for copy (F5) and move (F6). There's a very similar feature while renaming: press Shift+F6 (or whatever shortcut you mapped the renaming to) to toggle the selection of the extension.

Thanks again Dalai. Worked perfectly for the copy but how do I make the selection the default? :D

You can't, TC always selects entire field text first.
You only can change initial selection for inplace edit with RenameSelOnlyName INI option.

Or via configuration dialog: Options > Operation > section Main program > Select only the file name when renaming (not the extension).

This is already selected :(

How can I do it with the INI option?

Thanks for your response :)

PS. The string described is already set

RenameSelOnlyName=1

too

As was already said: It's only possible to do it for the inplace renaming function, not for the copy/move dialog.

Pressing F5 or F6 twice is not too much work, is it? ;)
