You set these "awful borders" yourself!
Go to "Configration" - "Button Bar..." and remove all separators (empty items).
If you need more space between the buttons (actually bigger buttons) use "Size" instead, by typing higher value.

There is no other way to group icons on toolbar, or is it?

You can create not separator but real empty button instead.
Create "dummy" command and set icon to non-existent icon file.

Eg.:
(add in your USERCMD.INI file or create new with this content while doesn't exist yet)

Code: Select all

[em_dummy]
button=DUMMY.ICO
cmd=cd
Then copy this code and paste in your buttonbar

Code: Select all

TOTALCMD#BAR#DATA
em_dummy

DUMMY.ICO

With this I will have a lot of clickable dummy buttons. :\ Or did I miss something? What is 10092 good for, and where do I have to write it?

Actually TOTALCMD#BAR#DATA is a special clipboard format for TC buttons, you can copy such text block and paste it as a button to TC buttonbar.

But you're correct, you'll get a number of dummy buttons.

So that means there is no way to make a well-arranged nice flat toolbar without clickable fake buttons or borders? Shame. :(

For decades since this option was made these borders have looked quite normally (just like in standard Windows toolbars) so there is no any shame here. :D

Only these dumb Metro styles made such borders non-standard. I think you should make a feature request (mostly for an INI option to disable borders) and wait for Mr. Ghisler reply.

Why do you think that this is a bug? It's not, the separators are intentional.

Why can't seperators be a movable object, like Firefox bookmarks have. So we could use it or not. :)

Maybe add a option to replace the "|" separator icon for an "empty" one??
I think this can look better on new Windows versions and with the new TC 9 visual changes.

BTW: An transparent.ico (created with IrfanView) does the Job for me.

Toolbar without Borders (transparent.ico) ...

Using a transparent.ico is a ok workaround.
I don't like it that it works like a button and that you see it selected / change color when you hover over it.
But that is a personal preference.
