Menu button dropdown arrow and button width

As TC 9 is to some extent about visual improvements I want to renew an old suggestion which I could no longer find.
The arrow used to indicate that a button is actually a menu button looks really archaic. I guess TP_SPLITBUTTONDROPDOWN is the right part for this (could also be TP_DROPDOWNBUTTONGLYPH).
Such a dropdown arrow should be placed right to the icon. This requires to broaden the button a few pixels.
Changing the width of a certain button was too much effort when it was initially requested. Maybe the timing is a bit better now?
