And once more. Passwords in 7z.

Post by *air »

I totally remove all 7z plugins and set ";DefPlugin=7z"
Anyway, once used, password let see all names of files in encrypted archive (but not let see files w/o password if files encrypted too).
Seems as security bug.

Best wishes, Andrew.

No is not a bug.
Default 7zip archives don't encrypt file names.

1. It's declare it in the pack window :) No matter..
2. It's encrypt files, so I always have prompt to password for file, but not for archive (when I try open archive at second time). No such problem with ZIP archives. All password keeping options are disabled, of course. My system is XP32 if it's significant.

It seems like problem w/7zip integration w/shell (under XP at least). If install native 7z and remain only two options - Add to archive and Open archive, all, what concerning passwords works as must (in TC, not in 7z "Open archive" or explorer). So, 2 plugins for TC seems buggy too, as 7z itself.

I could not reproduce the problem, sorry. Even if file names are encrypted, I'm asked for new password if I enter another archive. Entering the SAME archive doesn't ask for password again to see the names. But it asks when you try to unpack something.
