Why my image files have different icons in TC and Explorer?

Post by *Ahu_Lee »

Hi guys!

Image: https://i.imgsafe.org/e11fee686e.png

Normally if All associated + EXE/LNK (slow) option is selected in the display preferences (just as in my case here) almost all the icons (well except for archives) in TC correspond exactly with those in the Explorer.

But as you can see here on the screenshot my image files in TC have icons of the WinCDEmu program and in the Explorer .nrg is unassigned and .iso assigned to Windows Disc Image Burner.

A peculiar thing also is that if you left click all those files having WinCDEmu icons in TC the reaction is the same as in the Explorer, i.e. .nrg opens a dialog box for unknown file and .iso opens Windows Disc Image Burner.

So why and how is it possible in TC that some file types clearly being associated with one program show icon of a completely different one?

Thank you very much!

Maybe you have internal TC associations defined? It's also possible that the associations in the registry are ambiguous. What's shown for this type in Files - Associate - Edit type?
