[8.52a] Unicode errors when using MassRename > Edit Names

Post by *ArchCarrier »

To reproduce:

1. Select a few files
2. Open Mass Rename Tool
3. Click 'Edit names...' (file icon to the right of upper/lowercase options)
4. Change some characters to accented characters in the opened temp file (I guess it depends on the text editor, but mine opens in UTF-8 by default).
5. Save this temp file
6. Back in TC click OK

The accented characters now show weird unicode symbols.

Maybe your text editor saves file w/o BOM?

Yes, that could be - TC checks for BOM of returned file, and assumes ANSI if there isn't any.
