This is a quickfilter and I did something that I have done for the first time in DOS at the beginning of the 90s. And in TC I have to make a special setting for this...Great! That is really quick. I think I am faster doing such works manually than doing trial and error.
If Quicksearch is now that complicated I wonder why there is no article in the help. If I search for "quickfilter" I do not get any result.
I have to take a look in the article of the configuration dialogue to find a clue how quicksearch is working.
From documentation to handling: That whole thing is strange.

And why is this an entry in the bug forum ?
Only because you are not understanding it ?
It behaves as described and designed, so all you can make is an entry in the suggestions forum.
Moderators should move this thread out of the bug forum.

?
Because yesterday I thought that it would be a bug.
And if you would have read my first message you would have seen that I first have asked in another Thread if that is a bug. And I have received the answer that this could be a bug.

There were no quick filters in DOS, only wildcards for commands, and these are different things.

I find default behaviour weird too (it finds regini.exe on reg.e), but it is here for many years... And it is really quick to change it once and use for years later. It is well-known that wincmd.ini is one of the most important files to backup.
I had an idea about the quick search: It would be convenient if the searchbox appeared with a starting "*" sign, if the last search also started with it. So turning this feature off could be done with a backspace. (I tried to find the right place for this suggestion, but I'm a little occupied now. If anyone thinks this the idea is worth the effort pass it along)
