To tell apart two copies of the program at a glance, an ability to change the icon would be useful. This is what I do with another application. Extract the icon, drag the hue slider around to produce a new icon of a different color using zero graphics skill, insert the modified icon back into the exe. Unfortunately it doesn't work with Total Commander because it has a protection.

1. Install the TC-plugin ICLView.
2. Open totalcme64.exe with the plugin.
3. Right click and choose "Save all as ICL" and save as totalcmd.icl.
4. Open totalcmd.icl in ICLView
5. Right click and choose "Editor Mode"
6. Right click on the first icon and choose "Add icon" and choose an icon to you liking.
7. Right click on the first icon and choose "Delete icon(s)".
8. Right click and choose "Save all as ICL". Save (overwrite) as totalcmd.icl.
9. Go into TC's "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Icons" and make sure the item "Show default folder/file icons from Explorer" is deselected
10. Put this in the [Configuration] section of your wincmd.ini file: IconLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\totalcmd.icl
11. Restart TC.
