How to test IconOverlaysOneDrive

Post by *petermad »

history.txt
26.10.17 Added: wincmd.ini [Configuration] IconOverlaysOneDrive=1/0: Enable/disable cloud overlay icons for OneDrive files which are only available online (32/64)

25.10.17 Added: Windows 10: Show cloud icon for files on OneDrive which are only available online (not offline on this computer) (32/64)
How can I test this new feature?
How do I make a file only available online?

You can use the One Drive Web Interface
to change the status of Files on Demand.
Works fine here and TC display looks ok.

You can use the One Drive Web Interface
That's what I tried.
to change the status of Files on Demand.
And how do I do that?

I had problems to find the context menu entries in the web interface
as described in the Microsoft pages.
But then I found that TC already shows
"Free up space" or "Always keep on this device"
for files and dirs in the local One Drive tree.
Free up space replaces the local copy by a placeholder.
Always keep on this device makes it available localy.
Double click on a file downloads it if required.

That helped - thank you.

And I can see the little cloud owerlay for files where the "Free up space" option has been used :-)

never figured out to set the online only status of files via the web interface though...
