I would like to move files to my SD card

Post by *cinque8 »

Hello,

I just installed Total Commander on my Nokia 3.1 Android phone. I have never used Total Commander before and I am not familiar with the screen or the icons on the screen. Is there a video or tutorial that I could watch so that I can become familiar with the Total Commander Android screen?

And also, how would I go about moving my video files to my SD card?

Thank you

There is a help file available via main menu - Help (HTML).

To copy files, do the following:
1. Go to the target directory
2. Swipe sideways to show the other file panel
3. Go to the source directory
4. Select the files you want to copy
5. Copy them by tapping on the copy button (Second from the left at the bottom)

There are several ways to select files:
1. Short tap on their icons
2. Long tap on first icon, choose "Select files", then tap on the last file
3. Tap on the first button from the left at the bottom

Restoring backup zipfile to phone

Post by *drusher »

TotalCommander is the only program I have found able to see and back up android directories containing symbolic links such as done by Camscanner. Google and Samsung backup do not handle symbolic links (and no other program in Google Play can handle symbolic links either). It is an amazing program. Using the above, I created a backup on my sd card of the /storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.intsig.camscanner dir and save it to the SD card. It wisely created a zipfile of all the data to preserve filestamps/dates.

To restore the files, would I use the above process in reverse:
1. go to the target dir /storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.intsig.camscanner and select the target dir folder? (I can't select the files because they are not there).
2. swipe sideways to show the other file panel.
3. Go to the SD card and select the zipfile? Or would I select the dir the zipfile is in?
4. Tap the copy button

Will totalcommander then unzip the zipfile and restore all the files /storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.intsig.camscanner?

This is necessary because I paid $50 for camscanner and I will have to pay again to use it, plus I will lose hundreds of documents that cannot be restored. It is nasty for camscanner to hide the files so people cannot back up all their files and restore them.

It should work, but I would first make a test with one file from the archive.
