Inconsistent hotkey descriptions/naming in TC help

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Inconsistent hotkey descriptions/naming in TC help

Post by *Usher »

I searched for Ctrl+Shift+Enter in TC help and not found it, so I started a broader search.
In most cases combined hotkeys are described using following patterns:

Code: Select all

Shift+key
Ctrl+key
Ctrl+Shift+key
Ctrl+Alt+key
Alt+key
Alt+Shift+key
However, there are three entries with inconsistent description:
  • Operation -> Keyboard layout (file keyboard.htm)
    - SHIFT+CTRL+F5, should be CTRL+SHIFT+F5
  • Operation -> User interface-> Command line (file cmdline.htm)
    - SHIFT-ENTER, should be SHIFT+ENTER
    - CTRL-ENTER, should be CTRL+ENTER
    - CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER, should be CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER
    - CTRL-CURSORDOWN, should be CTRL+CURSORDOWN
  • Operation -> Menus -> Menu Configuration-> Options -> Edit/View (file dlg_configedit.htm)
    - Strange hint: "Pressing the SHIFT-key while pressing F3 will select the other method of the two methods described above!"
    Should be "Pressing SHIFT+F3 will select the other method of the two methods described above!"
If any explanations like "Shift+F3 means - press and hold SHIFT key then hit F3" are needed, they should be added as general rules in the beginning of Operation -> Keyboard layout entry.

This also applies to the keyboard.txt and tasten.txt files

I prefer not to change this at this time. It has been like this for many years.

Support++ to make it consistent. It looks weird and the user might think it has a different meaning for example when in the same list + and - are used.
