Resolved by version 1.3.0.0.
Usher wrote: 2019-08-24, 23:41 UTC Now it works OK and seems to be faster. Just one little thing - could you use shorter "extension" - setDIRdate or DIRdate? TC uses <DIR> name…
Also resolved by the latest version.
TC plugins: Autodesk 3ds Max / Inventor / Revit Preview, FileInDir, ImageMetaData (JPG Comment/EXIF/IPTC/XMP), MATLAB MAT-file Viewer, Mover, SetFolderDate, Solid Edge Preview, Zip2Zero and more

wcx_setfolderdate_1.3.0.0.rar

Installation:
- download the stated archive with the plugin installation files
- use TC to locate the just downloaded plugin archive
- double click on the archive file and follow the dialogs
- note the name to give on the top right at "All files with extension (ending with):" to identify that plugin later on (here: dirdate or setfolderdate)
You can take a look into wincmd.ini (menu Configuration > Change Settings Files Directly)
and there at the [PackerPlugins]-section to lookup the given name to identify one already installed plugin.

Usage:
- this is a Packer plugin (.wcx file), use it by utilizing "Files > Pack..." (Alt+F5)
- for this plugin: select the wanted folder and open the packer dialog
- in Packer-dialog use the drop down menu to chose the packer plugin by its given name from above (here: dirdate or setfolderdate)
- some plugins also have the possibility to use the [Configuration]-button
- if all is set up, click the [OK] button in the packer dialog to let the plugin do its work

Whats the need for this ?
You can select the required time period in TC and only the results are processed by the plugin.

The idea behind is:
- I have a server-structure which was completely copied on Sept. 12.. All folders got the date Sep-12
- In the meanwhile some folders where modified and got a newer date.
- A few were modified by deleting files, so e.g. got the date "2021-11-10". This date is the last file deletion, but not the youngest file.
- When I use Setfolderdate, these folders will get the date of the youngest file (e.g. 2019) and not of the latest modification.
- I know that this question "youngest file versus youngest modification" is valid for all folders. But for the user is is not that important for folders some years old; but it could be confusing for folders modified in the last few weeks. Example: " I know that I deleted some files from folder "test" 10 days ago, and now the have the date from 2019. Why?"
- A function like "set date only to folders which are older than Sep-12 or which have the date Sep-12" would help to avoid it.

No life-saving, but helpful.

Have a fine Sunday!

How to do in detail?
I searched fol all directories - displayed them in the result list - seleceted two dirs - started "setfolderdate" - got error "Failed to set last write time"

With some rare exceptions, plugins are installed by double-clicking or pressing Enter on their archive in TC. TC will then prompt the user whether to install the plugin and where. This procedure is usually described in the plugin's readme (contained within the downloaded archive file).

In case of packer plugins, TC will also prompt the user for confirmation for each archive extension to associate with the plugin, in this specific case these are the virtual extensions "setfolderdate" and "dirdate".

To use this specific plugin, just call TC's pack dialog (e.g. Alt+F5) and select one of its extensions (see previous sentence). Upon pressing OK in the pack dialog, the plugin will do its thing. The plugin also has some options that can be configured via the Configure button in the pack dialog.
