Yes, zipping is not supported, but unzipping to the folder should work.

Move should work too - from where (which directory) are you moving the file?

On my OnePlus 9 pro it seems not to work :(
Flow:
Go to data folder - select installierte apps
Write protected popup comes up - Yes
Filesapp opens with folders
Go into one of them
Press the diesen Ordner verwenden Button
Popup to allow TC access to to current and future content -> allow
Error popup "es scheint, als hätten Sie den falschen Ordner gewählt! -> OK

Android 11
Kernel 5.4.61
Oxygen 11.2.10.10
Any ideas why it is not working?

Found how to get it work.
You first have to do it on the data folder itself!!

Go into one of them
That's the error, you need to just click the button in the base folder as you found out yourself.
Reason: Going into one of the subfolders would only grant you access to that subfolder.

This is clearly a vintage question... I'm using Android 11 based LineageOS, and TC 3.21 (for reasons I forgot, but for reasons). Phone is rooted, TC is granted superuser access.

I used to be able to access the android/data folder as described in this thread, but somehow can't anymore. When I access the "installed apps" link, I can see the installed apps, but I'm not asked for additional permissions. When I access /storage/emulated/0/Android/data I can the the various apps folders, bit inside, there's just the "files" folder and no actual files. Again, I'm not being asked for additional permissions.

Any way to get my access back? Thanks!

Android 11 no longer stores the private app data under /data/data - instead it stores it under
/data_mirror/data_ce/null/0
to which the "-> installed apps" link sends you.

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data is not the same folder, it stores files which the apps wanted to share with other apps until Google decided that it should be private too. The shared folders are now under /storage/emulated/0/Android/media

On Android 12, the Data folder is not visible anymore, you can't choose it and press "USE THIS FOLDER".

nb: i dont know what happened but I DID HAD access to my /Android/data until yesterday (I got Android 12 on my Xiaomi pro 9 months ago). I didn't update anything, Total commander version is 3.42.

You need to uninstall the update of the "Files by Google" app, that's the app showing this user interface.
You can do this via the properties of this app, by clicking on the 3 dots in the top right corner.

hello Christian
Thanks again for your always great help :-).
There is no "update" for the "Files by Google" app, so I just uninstall it :-). Not help.
Then I uninstall the update of the "Files" app , now "Total Commander" can access the /Android/data :-)
nb: I install the "Files by Google" app again, everything is still ok.

btw according to the reddit link I posted above, the loophole is closed in Android13 (but another loophole is available :-)). Will your Total Commander's "access to Android/data" still work on Android13?

>>Well, that loophole was finally closed in Android 13, which is why you're seeing a lot of third-party file manager apps suddenly unable to access /Android/data and /Android/obb. Except another loophole was discovered recently, but many file managers have yet to update to utilize it

That's an old thread, 12 months old. The old loophole was giving access to Android/data as a whole. The new loophole was giving access to each individual subdirectory. Unfortunately both loopholes have been closed now.
