Win7/TC 9.51 problems with copying from/to Android via USB cable

Post by *Izibia »

Situation:
Windows 7 running TC 9.51, connected by an USB cable to Asus Zenfone with Android 8.1.
If I am trying to copy files between left-right TC windows, one showing a local folder (on an internal/external disk), other one an Android folder, then all these results appear, almost randomly:

1) the only effect is a Windows system sound "Default Beep", nothing is copied
2) file(s) are successfully copied, no sound/pop-up/anything
3) file(s) are successfully copied, and a pop-up window appears (see the image)

Remarks
- if more files is copied in one stroke then it increases a chance for a fail, i.e. for the result 1) ; 1 file is usually copied, 20 files never
- copying by ctrl-c ctrl-v increases a chance for a success
- problems happen with both copy directions
- results don't depend on a file; file(s) that previously failed may be copied next time
- it looks copying always works if I drag-and-drop (OLE2?) from windows explorer to TC ( :!: EDIT 2022: it fails if too many files)

TC uses the same functions for F5 and Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V here: Copying via Explorer functions. Unfortunately they aren't very reliable. Try using a plugin like Windows MediaAudio2 or Android ADB.

I will update my experience.

Chosen solution:
Plugins like Android ADB are not needed.
Any drag-and-drop copying works, but it must be done between two windows (TC, Explorer) opened in Windows.
Drag-and-drop copying between panels of one TC window fails.

Details:
I tested copying files (photos) from an Android device to a Windows device (this time I didn't test the opposite direction), via drag-and-drop
I tested with both TC 9.51 and 10.0, and with equal results:

1) from TC to Explorer
it works without problems
a Windows dialogue "Copying..." with a Cancel button is shown

2) from Explorer to Explorer
it works without problems
a Windows dialogue "Copying..." with a Cancel button is shown

3) from Explorer to TC
it works without problems
TC shows a hourglass and doesn't respond until the copy process ends

4) from TC to another TC instance
it works without problems
TC shows a hourglass and doesn't respond until the copy process ends

5) from TC to TC: within one TC instance, just between TC panels
it fails, details are in my previous post

Sorry, I cannot reproduce that. Anyone else?
