Pinned tabs

it would be useful to have the abilty to pin a tab so that it will always be visible at a fixed position no matter how many other tabs are open.

Isn't that what 'Lock tab' is for?

no, because a locked tab will still get pushed out of sight if you open enough other tabs. a pinned tab would not.

I don't think that the Windows tab control supports pinned tabs.
