The same problem here if testing with the actual preview.
I changed from the preview installer version to the 3.4.6 x64 portable version some time ago.
This runs fine here.

Anyone reported the problem to the SumatraPDF developer?

I don't think that would help as SLister is the problem not SumatraPDF.
The current x64 version 3.4.6 works perfect here.
If we just wait for the next offical release I guess it will be fine again.

PDF Viewer plugin for TC 64

Post by *JesperRed »

This is a very long thread - with lots of good ideas

I would appreciate very much if somehow could help me with at description on how to implement an internal PDF viewer in TC.
Is should work with latest version of TC, Win 11 and a not too old version of a PDF viewer
(could be great if it was Sumatra version 3.4.6 64 bit, which I normally uses)

You can try my plugin http://totalcmd.net/plugring/wlx_TCSumatraPDF.html It works correctly with any version of SumatraPDF. Details in the readme.

Download SLister (https://totalcmd.net/plugring/slister.html), install it and then edit slister.ini to something like
path=%COMMANDER_PATH%\<your path>\SumatraPDF.exe.
Restart TC and with F3 you get now to watch PDFs with SumatraPDF.

(dont use any other bigger Plugins as Slister is the best for Sumatra 8) )

The original sLister works correctly only when using versions of SumatraPDF that match the TC bit depth. That is, you must use both SumatraPDF x32 and SumatraPDF x64. There is a sLister mod. It only allows you to use SumatraPDF x32 for TC x32 and TC x64. But at it focus flies at Ctrl+Q. To that-
both of these versions of sLister do not work correctly with SumatraPDF version 3.1 and later.
My plugin is devoid of all these shortcomings.

The TCSumatraPDF plugin works fine here unter x86 and x64 TC
using only a x64 SumatraPDF installation.

I can strongly recommend the TCSumatraPDF plugin.
TCSumatraPDF Plugin <-> sLister Plugin | SumatraPDF

And I strongly advise against that :!: sLister Plugin at least will never override user settings :D

TCSumatraPDF Plugin 1.51 - 17.07.2023
The final version was announced today. :)

Settings files are NOT overwritten anymore after an upgrade(!),
i.e. it is possible to simply "overinstall" this plugin over an already existing version.

This Documentation will be adjusted by me when the time comes.

Interested parties can find a test scenario here.
In the test results, the error in point 5 was corrected in version 1.51.

Hi AkulaBig,

I just tried the latest release of SumatraPDF v3.51 (64-bit) with the SLister plugin (64-bit). Unfortunately, SumatraPDF v3.51 grabs the focus when quick-viewing (Ctrl+Q) a PDF file, while SumatraPDF v3.46 does not have this behavior.

So I tried your plugin SumatraPDF.wlx64 to see if it would work any better with SumatraPDF v3.51. When there is only one PDF file in a folder, quick-viewing won't lose the focus, but when there are two or more PDF files in a folder, your plugin loses the focus when advancing to the next/previous PDF file in quick-view mode when pressing cursor-up/cursor-down.

Are you able to update your plugin so that it doesn't lose the focus anymore in quick-view mode?

For me it worked as follows.
With which settings did you test?

Windows 11 Pro (x64) Version 22H2 (OS build Build 22621.2428) | TC 11.02RC3 x64 | https://totalcmd.net/plugring/wlx_TCSumatraPDF.html

tuska: It is NOT about the quickview of SumatraPDF.wlx itself. This works fine.
The problem is with the sequential browsing through a list of PDF files using cursor up/down keys.
SumatraPDF seems to catch the focus from the file list panel to the quickview panel after each change (starting with SumatraPDF V1.5)

Looks like the problem is with SumatraPDF itself, not with any plugin.
