Req.: TC4A: Show TCMP button bar on top or bottom side of player window

Post by *DrShark »

Currently when the player is playing audio files, the button bar is on top of the player window which in this case is also the top (above) of playlist).
When the not full-screen video is played, the bar is placed in the middle of the video screen (whuch is above the bar) and the playlist (which is below the bar). If the full-screen video is played, the bar is at the bottom of the screen.

Unfortunately, such a behavior of the bar makes the switching of many tracks with "Play previous file in queue" and "Play next file in queue" very difficult, because when the playlist consicts of the mix of video and audio files with different sizes of video screen + some could full/not fullscreen, the bar jumps to different places between the tracks, making it almpost impossible to quickly press e.g. "Play previous file in queue" to skip desiren number of files.

Of course, there are some alternative ways of switching tracks:
* the notification bar, but the buttons there are usually smaller, and it doesn't show the video, and there is also also a switch of context from the player window to the Android notification bar window;
* the lockscreen notification: on some Android devices, like Meizu M2, there ara acutually quite large Prev/Next buttons, but again it doesn't show the video (though can show album art covers on some devices like mentioned Meizu M2), also the same issue with a switch of context from the player window to the Android notification bar window which now could be combined with a need to type the password to switch from the lockscreen. And the lockscreen is different on many Android devices (somewhere the notification bar UI is used on lockscreen notifications). I'm not even mention here the bugs of the lockscrens of some devices (again, Meizu M2!) where switching between tracks can make lockscreen show the wrong track title and/or album art cover (TC cannot check the actual content of lockscreen (Android API restriction!) to even detect this Android bug, and one of workarounds I found particularly for Meizu M2 - by use of auto Pause+Play for each next track, which fixes titles/arts on lockscreen of this device - was not implemented even optionally).
* It's possibe to scroll the playlist with a finger, but when the fullscreen video is played, the playlist is not shown, and even when the video is not in a fullscreen, only a small part of playlist is shown (on small screen device it cold be even only 1-2 visible tracks) which makes the scrolling this way not really convenient, not to mention accident taps on wrong tracks, which again can change the size of visible playlist area or even make it disappear if there was a tap on a track which is a full screen video.
* of course there are probably some devices with built-in hardware- or wired/wireless accessories (e.g. headsets) with buttons for switching tracks, but it depends on device and not always convenient.
