can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
Hello, I just installed total commander 10 to try the new wonderful thumbnail feature taken from the metadata, but now I can not anymore move/delete *.ARW from total commander (TC just hang forever when I try). On windows Explorer it's work fine.
Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
Quick note: Seam to be related to the thumbnail cache, I delete the thumbnail cache database (that was 15GB) and now seam to work
Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
finally no, it's seam deleting the cache do not correct the problem, I still can not move/delete raw images (as I see it's happen only with sony raw image *.ARW). It's random, sometime it's work, sometime not. deactivating the thumbnail cache seam to correct the problem (leaving empty the thumbnails database location)

Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
loki5100,
Can you delete them in Explorer?
Are you deleting them or moving to the Recycle Bin?
You can check what exactly is locking a file using a tool such as LockHunter.

Nothing is locking them this why I can delete it in Explorer
remember, deactivating the thumbnail cache correct the problem !

Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
Note: deactivating the thumbnail cache not fully correct the problem ! when I try to update the file (the file creation date) from another software but with total commander open on the folder where the ARW is I can not update the file. As soon As I close total commander I can update the file
Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
I just did this test :
1/ Open Total commander and try from it to move DSC07625.ARW
2/ it's hang
3/ open windows explorer and try from it to move DSC07625.ARW
4/ it's hang also
5/ from task manager, kill Total commander
6/ immediatly after the file is sucessfully moved in the Windows explorer
I also try from process explorer to see who own the handle put on DSC07625.ARW :
seam clear that it's total comander who lock the file
Is their any workaround? deactivating the thumbnail cache didn't help finally.
this error seam to appear only in TC 10
It's not seam to be connected to thumbnail, because even when I never preview any thumbnail It's fail too

I tried with you sample file https://img.photographyblog.com/reviews/sony_a7s_iii/photos/sony_a7s_iii_01.arw and I cannot reproduce the locking you describe here. Tested with TC 10.00 x64 under Windows 10 21H1 and Windows 7.
Have you tried to first delete your tcthumbs.db and tcthumbs.idb files and then remove *.arw from the list at "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Thumbnails" -> "Internal thumbnails from images:" ?

can you try with this file instead: https://www.transfernow.net/dl/20210721EsrFOmpIpetermad wrote: ↑2021-07-21, 21:24 UTC I tried with you sample file https://img.photographyblog.com/reviews/sony_a7s_iii/photos/sony_a7s_iii_01.arw and I cannot reproduce the locking you describe here. move it around 10 times between 2 different folders as it's not allways blocking.
also try to show it in thumbnail view before to move or between move
Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
I tried all sorts of move, delete and rename it with another file managerloki5100 wrote: ↑2021-07-21, 22:56 UTCcan you try with this file instead: https://www.transfernow.net/dl/20210721EsrFOmpIpetermad wrote: ↑2021-07-21, 21:24 UTC I tried with you sample file https://img.photographyblog.com/reviews/sony_a7s_iii/photos/sony_a7s_iii_01.arw and I cannot reproduce the locking you describe here. while it was displayed as thumbnail in TC.
While renaming in another file manager the TC thumbnail was automatically displayed with the new name
when it was deleted its removed from the thumbnails in TC.
There was never any problem.
For me there is no problem with this file type.
I tested it with the option to have it the list of "Internal thumbnails from images:" and without.

Re: can not move/delete *.ARW file (sony raw image)
I cannot reproduce this problem either. Total Commander 10 has a new internal extractor for ARW thumbnails, but it does not lock them.
Could you please check whether the new internal extractor is enabled for arw?
1. Go to Configuration - Options - Thumbnails
2. "Internal thumbnails from images" needs to be checked
3. The value behind it needs to contain *.arw, the default is *.jpg *.dng *.arw *.crw *.cr2 *.cr3 *.nef *.orf *.pef *.raf *.rw2

Maybe it's anti-virus software (again)?

Tried that, still no problems. Maybe you should try and disable your anti virus program temporarily as Dalai suggest, to see if that makes a difference.can you try with this file instead: https://www.transfernow.net/dl/20210721EsrFOmpI
