TC always shows the user's AppData folder

Post by *wisekat »

TC 10.0. I discovered that the AppData folder from the user's folder is always visible in the file panes regardless of the Show Hidden/System Files setting. Just in case I checked the Hidden attribute for the folder - it is set as expected.

You cannot delete it once others have writtten in the thread - don't worry, it may help others when searching for the issue.

Maybe it's not considered as a bug. But it makes TC10 unusable for me. I don't want this folder there. Its not consistent with other user folders and I don't even know why should I use this folder as often, so it should be ALWAYS be there. When I'll need it, I'll simply show hidden folders (I even made key shortcut for that) and that's it. There is no option to turn this "feature" off. So I downgraded to TC9. I always liked TC to bo so flexible, configurable and to be honest this is really strange and misconceptual that this kind of feature with such a huge impact on user experience doesn't have configuration option in both settings dialog or ini file.

In the next version, you will be able to hide it via ignore list.

Make this the default setting!
If a folder is has the hidden attribute set, we expect it will be hidden in the TC file panes if we do not turn on displaying hidden/system files. And only if we need to show it, then we define an exclusion.

I think that the purpose of ignore list is not to hide a file that is already hide by default by Windows.
The solution from Stefan2 is good and could satisfate everybody?

Better would be to help people in another way,
maybe in "Options > Display > [_] Show hidden files ,, [x] Always show AppData ,, [_] Show system files"
Thanks.
