Almost all Total Commander plugins are self-installing. You just have to double click or press Enter on the downloaded plugin archive file (in Total Commander, not in Windows Explorer).

Note: the auto-installation does not work if you have disabled "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Packer" -> "Treat archives like directories"

Use TC to browse to the downloaded archive and just double click on it.

Read our wiki too: Plugins for Total Commander > https://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/Plugin

When I double click a wlx file in TC, a dialog box appears with this text:
How do you want to open this file?
Look for an app in Microsoft Store.

vjedlicka,
You don't click on the wlx file, you click on the zip it came in.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Now I tried it for the hundredth time and it worked !!!
I browsed to another folders, then returned to the download folder, tried again and the installer kicked in !
So it is working now. (although I wish there was a more reliable way of installing the plugins).
Thank you for your help !

I browsed to another folders, then returned to the download folder,
If you have opened the zip file (with Ctrl+PgDn) to unpack it, the auto-installer will not work until you have opened another archive in the same folder, because of caching.

It is very reliable - if you stick to just double-clicking the archive.

If you prefer to unpack the plugin manually yourself, you can do so and the install then plugin manually - example for wlx plugin:

1. Unpack the archive to Plugins\WLX\nameofyourplugin in your TC program folder.
2. Open "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Plugins".
3. Click on the "Configure" button for the type of plugin you would like to install - here Lister plugins (.WLX).
4. Click on the "Add" button.
5. Navigate to the Plugins\WLX\nameofyourplugin folder.
6. Highlight the WLX (NOT the WLX64) file an click "Open".

Note: The folder you choose to unpack the archive to, has to stay present - it is in this folder TC will look for the wlx file on startup.
