Not sure where the problem lies, but I have 2 issues:
1) When I connect to smatphone but select only powering up device then in TC i see main folder which is empty.
When I switch mode to transfer files then I need to close and reopen TC because it will still show that the folder is empty. I waited 2 or 3 minutes using refresh feature and maybe I should wait even longer but didn't have patience for this.
EDIT: if You check my computer there are files shown but not in TC.
2) This one is new for me - I connected to phone, copied some files, then on phone directly in TC for Android i moved few files. I refreshed content in desktop TC (few times) but it didn't change anything - old files where still where they were before moved. I even could copied them to desktop from old locations.
I closed TC, reopen it, disconnect phone and reconnect and still I see in TC old structure of files, not the real one. How to fix it? I have Huawei P20 Lite.
EDIT: seems the second one is related to MediaStore issues. But i didn't find a way to force the MediaStore service to rescan content. This procedure should be probably implemented somehow in TC but maybe not, i don't know. Without root adb am broadcast command also doesn't work. That is why I think root should be present for anyone who wants to because it is only one way to patch bugs made by phone developers.

I had a similar problem with one of my phones - maybe this answer from Ghisler can help: viewtopic.php?p=393976#p393976 - updating with the internal command Nr. 130.

Re: Connecting and refreshing content on smartphone
I will try but its not the TC issue only. Explorer behaves the same. Funny, folders weren't refreshed even if I restarted phone ...
Not sure why normal directory refresh is not doing the same as command 130. I will test it later - thanks for tip, hope it will work.

Re: Connecting and refreshing content on smartphone
I have always the actual Samsung Galaxy S series (currently the S21)
since many years and never found a need to root it.
For file transfer and other things I use the AirDroid app on the phone and Firefox on the PC.
Its free and needs no account if used on the same WLAN.
