Access shadow copies from TC?

Post by *mvalpreda »

If I right click on a folder, properties, previous versions....I can open that and see the files in there via shadow copies.
Is there a way to access that through Total Commander? I have a lot of files I need to compare.

It looks like I can access them with the following command:
cd \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\
They seem to be different from the files in the regular directories, so they must be previous versions.

What you can do:
1st: open a folder with the shadow copies in Exlplorer,
2nd: open properties of a file from there - copy the location (it begins with e.g. \\localhost\C$\@GMT...)
3rd: paste the location in TCmd e.g. with cd \\localhost\C$\@GMT...

In short: you need to find out the file path of a shadow copy. If you know this you can put into TCmd and work there.
