[TC10.51rc2] quick search by extension finds first extension letter only

Post by *LogicDaemon »

When I try to use quick search by extension, TC10.51rc2 only matches 1st extension letter.
I mean, when I type '.dll', it finds first file *.d*, but then doesn't type letter 'l' even though the file *.dl* is in the pane.

Searching by full filename works.

My config:
AltSearch=3
QuickSearchAutoFilter=0
QuickSearchExactMatch=1
QuickSearchMatchBeginning=1

No such problem here with your config.
There are several extensions beginning with d which are shown after typing .d
and after I type the 2nd letter l it shows the dlls

My normal config is:
QuickSearchMatchBeginning=0
QuickSearchExactMatch=0
QuickSearchAutoBeginning=1
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

There is really something strange with dot search for your settings. It goes crazy when you press Escape TWICE.
Just enter any directory, press Escape twice, then press dot and you won't be able to type any letter.

Now you should press Escape ONCE, type any letter, press Escape again ONLY ONCE and dot search will work again.

The problem is the option QuickSearchExactMatch=1, thanks for your report.
Starting the search with a dot didn't always work, but starting it with *. worked fine.

This should be fixed in RC3, please test it!
24.08.22 Fixed: With option QuickSearchExactMatch=1, quick search didn't always find the extension when starting the search with a dot only (using *. worked) (32/64)
