[TC 10.52] Missing box line in MRT-dialog under Windows 7 / XP

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 10.52] Missing box line in MRT-dialog under Windows 7 / XP

Post by *petermad »

In the in the Multi Rename Tool under Windows 7 with the Aero theme enabled and with a clean wincmd.ini file, the groupbox line at the bottom of the "Search & Replace" section is abut 90% missing - see: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/MRT_missing_line.png

It has been missing since TC version 9.20b2

It occurs in both 32 and 64-bit version of TC and only in Normal mode, not in Dark mode and not under Windows 10.

There is the same problem under Windows XP with the Luna theme: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/MRT_missing_line_XP.png

It's not missing, it's hidden under "Upper/lowercase" groupbox.
In TC 920 and earlier there was a problem with "Replace with" edit box - it's lower left corner might be hidden under [E] string (Use font Segoe UI 9 for dialogs and you will see it). So checkboxes (^, 1x, [E], RegEx) were moved down by 1 pixel and now you see the results of that moving.

Perhaps in this dialog it is necessary to make a small edit of the layout of blocks with controls.
Now everything is sketched out TOO closely. One block literally "lies on the knees" of the other. There is no freedom.
It is necessary to do at least either the Ribbon, or the TabControl element to implement. So that you can separate
not particularly related elements in different corners and give the opportunity to add new ones that will come to solve
any problems in the future.

As far as I understand - now the main answer is the phrase - that this window should work under win95 and for a resolution of 800 * 600 and probably less. Maybe so. But then the moment of dense packing on the panel of all elements becomes even more important. It is NECESSARY to spread in different directions...

The 800x600 resolution is still important, so it still can be used in safe mode without a dedicated display driver.
