Feature Request: add peek into file

I have a zip file of a 1GB text log. Sometimes I need to peek into the first few lines just to make sure this is the correct file. When using View (F3) it decompresses the entire file which takes a long time. Please add a quick view option (maybe ALT+F3) that will only unzip the first 1KB (configurable?) and will open that in a viewer

Try the Ulister plugin, it only displays the file list if invoked by View (F3) for me.
Works with zip and 7z archives but not with rar.

I need to see the contents of the file in the zip not the file list of the zip. But I only need to peek at the start of the file. I am looking for a way to save the time of extraction of the whole file just to see I opened the wrong zip

Thats partly also possible with ULister
Double click on a file in the list and you will get this file opened with the accociated tool.

I guess you will not find a tool or plugin which does exatcly what you want.

That is why I asked for a feature to be added to TC internal viewer.
Thanks

The asked feature CANT be added cause its just not possible to PARTIALLY extract files from an archive.
Neither Zip, Rar nor 7zip supports such a thing.

Some compressed formats (gz, xz) allow to work with an archive as a stream, but I'm not sure if any archiver can do the trick out-of-the-box. You should better ask 7-zip developer on Sourceforge.
