The same filetype-icons in Explorer and in Total

Post by *WhiteBear »

Hi everyone!

In my Total Commander some of filetypes has void ico. While in Windows Explorer the proper icons are showed.

Please see screenshots:
• in Explorer Image: https://ibb.co/610Jwqg
• in Total Image: https://ibb.co/6n0xMF1

• My configs in Total Image: https://ibb.co/GTBtWz5

I'd like to have the same icons in Total for all filetypes as they are in Explorer. Is it possible?

In FAQ https://www.ghisler.com/efaquser.htm I found the following:

Code: Select all

Q: In the file lists, Total Commander doesn't display the right icons for files associated with programs!
It displays the *.ICO file type icon for all!
A: That occurs in 32-bit versions if you increased or decreased the title-bar height in Windows.
If possible, restore the size to 18, which is the default. If you want to keep the customized title-bar height,
you need to change each icon (only xxx.ICO files) for each file type by a different one, contained in a DLL or
ICL icon-library; you can choose icons in any *.EXE program file too. Then, Total Commander will display the
 right icons everywhere!
Has anyone tried this? I set my Windows text (font) size of Title bar to the huge 18 (from standard 11), but this help no more.

Could you please suggest you ideas?
Thank you in advance!

P.S.: I'm using Total Commander 32-bit v10.52 on Windows 8.1 64

Looks as though these are abbyy lingvo icons.
(*.lsd and *.lsa are the lingvo's ditionaries).
abbyy is well-known for producing pretty buggy applications.

What is the path of the .lsd file icon in the registry?
Does 64-bit Total Commander handle the icons the same way as a 32-bit version?

Please use my tool registryinfo with the lsd and lsa extensions to find out what's wrong with the association:

Thank you. It's actually a very useful tool.
I was going to ask the OP about the correspondent registry entries but didn't have an idea what to advise a user on how to obtain such info. With such a tool that becomes just a piece of cake!

So were you able to find out what's wrong? If not, could you post the output of the registryinfo tool here, please?
