Sync dirs issue

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Sync dirs issue

Post by *wanderer »

In Sync dirs window, i compared 2 folders which had some differences. One of the differences was a file that existed only at the right side. I went over it and pressed F3. A small window opened and immediately closed, without any message. At first i was puzzled but after a while, i remembered i had to press SHIFT+F3 in order to view the file because it was on the right side. It would be better if a message appeared saying something like if you want to view the file, press SHIFT+F3 (for right side). Perhaps the same thing should appear if the user presses SHIFT+F3 on a file that's only on the left side.

Hmm, If I press F3 on a file that only exist on the right side, or I press Shift+F3 on a file that only exist on the left side, nothing happens - no small window opening and closing here.

It's very quick, almost instantaneous, so barely visible. I'm guessing it's probably an informational window saying something like "displaying file..."

There comes definitely no message or anything else on pressing the wrong key.

I just tried it on my VERY slow Windows 10 PC, to make it more likely to see it, but I still don't see any window opening/closing.

Can you reproduce it with a clean ini file?

   Well, yes it does!

I blame TC for making things so easy and transparent, that sometimes the user forgets he is working within a ZIP file!

Sorry to both of you for the delayed realization, i guess the mind is absent today. I think i need vacation...

I can confirm a short blink of a dialog being opened and closed when the file is in a zip-file.

That's indeed the unpack progress dialog, where the sync tool is trying to find the file in the zip (but fails).
