solved [TC 11.00b1] Position and opening of the new foldertab list

Post by *petermad »

When the Foldetab list is opened with the one of the cm_*tabslist commands it is opened to the far right of the file panel.

But if is opened by right-click on an empty space in the Foldertab bar it s opened with the upper right corner of the list at the clicked spot. If I click close to the last tab, the list will cover the tabs, I think it would be better if it was the upper left corner that is placed at the clicked spot.

If I have already a tabs list open for one panel, then right-click on the other panel does not work - I have to either press Escape or left-click anywhere first - it would be expedient if right-click would work immediately in such a case

I think it is impractical to call the corresponding item from the tab menu, it is there more for memory. Calling the menu from the menu looks redundant. A hotkey with an internal team is a more user—friendly approach, and the current location of the menu with this option suits me 100%.
Of course, it would be cool if it were possible to operate with the menu location as in Autorun for ShowPopupMenu with the /A: switch, but here the current position is enough for me.

This can be considered a bug requiring correction.

When I right-click to the right of the tabs it is not the tab menu that opens, it directly opens the tab list. And this is what this topic is about

I agree that it would be better. The used dialog is currently always right-aligned, but I can easily change that.

Understood. I read it wrong in a half-dream. But I'm against the top left corner of the menu. Firstly, when called in the left panel, the menu will go to the right panel, which is wrong. In addition, when called from the right panel with the TC window expanded, it will always be on the right in any case.

Sure, when you have a lot of (or very wide) tabs - in that case neither the right corner or the left corner works, but the left corner would be better for people like me that mostly don't use tabs and only occaionally have 2-4 tabs open.
which is wrong
Why? when you open the list you are obviously interested in the left panel, so does it matter that the right panel is partly covered while you look at the list.

With my propasal it would work almost as the Directory history when opened with the button in right side of the Current directory bar.
when called from the right panel with the TC window expanded, it will always be on the right in any case.
Sure, but when opened from a non-maximized TC with some space to right edge of the screen, the list can be more or less outside of TC, thus not blocking anything.

A solution to your problems with my proposal could be to still make sure that the list does not get over the midline or outside the right side as it already does. The it ould be a help for people using a few tabs and work the same for people with a full tab panel.

It matters to me. I don't want part of the right panel to overlap.

Such a solution would suit me.

Now the menu opened by the LMB on the left panel overlaps the right panel. It was clearly better before that. Please fix it. Discussed above.

I like the way it is now, it behaves the same way as the Directory hotlist does when clicking it's button.

Using Shift+Crtl+A to open the tabslist still opens it right aligned to the active panel, isn't that good enough?
