In my case, there is NO star in this constellation.
What if you disable QuickSearch eXtended?
With cm_SrcTabsList 1 or cm_SrcTabsList 3 I only get an expected search result WITH A STAR.
I find that too - it has to do with showing the tab paths which it always enabled when using cm_SrcTabsList 1 or 3 - it is the same when openening the list with Ctrl+Shift+A and enabling tab paths - I don't understand why it has to work differently whether tab paths or tab headers is enabled.

I have moved two files from QuickSearch eXtended version 2.3.1 temporarily to here:
D:\___TMP___\tcmatch64.exe
D:\___TMP___\tcmatch.exe

Without QuickSearch eXtended I get the same result as described here.

D:\___TMP___\tcmatch64.exe
D:\___TMP___\tcmatch.exe
After this action I moved the files back to %COMMANDER_PATH% and restarted TC.
Suddenly the asterisk was present in TC 11.03RC3 x64, both in cm_SrcTabsList 1 (after typing a letter)
as well as cm_SrcTabsList 3 (automatically!).

A test with TC 11.03RC3 x86 was NOT successful.

I then restarted TC 11.03RC3 x64 - unfortunately the star was no longer there.
I repeated the whole action again (remove/add QuickSearch eXtended).
Unfortunately, the star is no longer displayed automatically.

Are you sure you have the filter (Ctrl+S) enabled = is the filter icon to the right of the input field pressed?

I restarted the PC and TC today.
QuickSearch eXtended is active.

When I execute the command: cm_SrcTabsList 3 then the path list to the tabs appears and
- below the Quicksearch bar: "Search: | input field | and filter symbol "Ctrl+S""
- the filter symbol is NOT pressed

If I execute the command: cm_SrcTabsList 1 and press a letter, the filter symbol is also not pressed.

Then I pressed the filter button.
Exit TC and then restart.
After executing the cm_SrcTabsList 3 command, the star is displayed!

TC 11.03RC3 x86 now also works.

It looks to me as if the filter button has to be pressed the first time it is called
so that this function works as expected afterwards.

EDIT: Addition
- Ctrl+Shift+A,A shows the tab list with path
- After pressing a letter, the Quicksearch bar is displayed
- The filter button is pressed
- The star is NOT displayed (therefore an unexpected result in this case).

I can confirm that it only works with quick filter enabled.
I will make it work without quick filters and also with Quick Search Extended by sending the filter dialog a * directly.

now that we have:
history.txt wrote:09.01.24 Added: List of open tabs: Switch between tab title and tab directory with Ctrl+Shift+A (32/64)
Maybe it could be changed so that it is not necessary to start the search with an * to search in full path, now that full path display can be invoked with Ctrl+Shift+A.

I am thinking that if the search field is already in full path mode, the * could be avoided. When not in full path mode, typing an * could still switch to full path mode as currently.

I am writing this because the use of the * in the quick search field is a very obscure feature, only mentioned in the history.
history.txt wrote:03.04.23 Added: List of all open tabs: When using quick search starting with an asterisk *, display full paths instead of tab names, and apply filter to them (32/64)
It is not mentioned in the Help - so for a new user to discover this feature would be pure luck.

Also for the next major version (with new translations) the right-click menu of the Tabs list should have "Toggle Title/Directory View \tCtrl+Shift+A" added.

Parameter 2, e.g. cm_SrcTabsList 2 displays the list of all open tabs as a menu
AND
shows the Quick Search bar of Total Commander or "QuickSearch eXtended".

Ctrl+Shift+A shows the list of all open tabs as a menu.
Could you please also show the Quick Search bar here?

With Ctrl+Shift+A, Ctrl+Shift+A, the display of the Quick Search toolbar
would then also be desirable.

(It is sufficient to type a letter, for example, to display the Quick Search toolbar,
but not all users know this yet).

----

Parameter 2:

When using "QuickSearch eXtended", the complete toolbar is only displayed for the left TC window.

Only part of the toolbar is displayed in the right-hand TC window, which is on the right-hand edge of the window,
i.e. up to the filter button.

If I position the TC window on the left edge of the window and execute the cm_RightTabsList 2 command
I see more buttons, but still not the complete toolbar of "QuickSearch eXtended".

With parameter 3 (List of open tabs with the tab paths),
the risk of the "QuickSearch eXtended" toolbar being cut off is much lower.

The display is usually sufficient (up to the filter button), I just wanted to mention it.

history.txt wrote:01.02.24 Fixed: cm_*TabsList with parameter 1 or 3: Automatically adding "*" to quick search string only worked with quick filter enabled and internal quick search (32/64)
Confirmed fixed in TC 11.03rc4 :-)

Did you try it also with Quick Search Extended? Or just with internal quick search with quick filter disabled?

Total Commander Version 11.03R04 32 bit (2024-02-02) only.
TC Configuration > Quick Search > ◉ Letters - with search dialog

Parameter 1: cm_SrcTabsList 1, cm_TrgTabsList 1, cm_LeftTabsList 1, cm_RightTabsList 1
The * is displayed, but the letter must be entered twice instead of once.

A detailed description of the tests follows.

RC4.
Opened TCx64. Left mouse click near the Tabs - it calls context menu - it shows proper list of shorten tabs names (List of used folders). Now I press CTRL+ALT+A - all items in this menu got full paths against of their short names. Now press the key with letter A which exists at any almost records and.... AND I see "internal quick search/filter" minidialog below the list of folders of all opened tabs - but no letter A in it and no * as a first char in it.
Am I doing something wrong or I could not understand the new feature described here???

Maybe someone who has everything working as planned by the author will make a short video about this new feature?

In this case, an * (asterisk) must be entered before the letter A.

But it only proves that I do NOT understand then for which conditions and when this "NEW" feature will work?
HOW "Automatically adding "*" " does work???
