What we have: https://i.ibb.co/HX59Q7z/now.png (real screenshot)
How it should be to look fine: https://i.ibb.co/McGBkBm/todo.png ("fixed" in mspaint)
Please, make this change.

Re: Too long "abort copy" dialog

People complained that the dialogs were too small, and too much of the path was cut. Now that I made them larger, people complain that it is too large. What's the problem with it? Why not use more space when it is available?

I don't really see a reason why make a dialog smaller, either. Anyways, best would be if all dialogs and windows were resizable, I guess.

I meant button size. The lower one has too much text to be explained. So let it be the same width as two. It will be better aligned and comfortable to see.

I agree, that there is no reason why the buttons has to get bigger just because the window does.

I have tried it, and I think it looks even worse:
Centered
Right aligned

This is a dialog used in many places, so they will be affected too. For example, the long name warning:
Centered
Right aligned

What do you think?
- smaller buttons or leave it as it is?
- centered or right aligned?

I think in the dialog boxes with 6 or more buttons, it looks OK to keep the same size of the buttons, and then center them - as in https://www.ghisler.ch/images/longname_centered.jpg

For the Abort dialog with 3 buttons I suggest to put all 3 buttons in the same row (centered) and then make the minimum size of the dialog large enough to handle that - as here: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/abort_centerednew.jpg

But then the dialog would be very wide also for very short path names (due to the 3 buttons)...

Then maybe for short paths, put the "OK..." and the "Finish..." button on one line and let the "Cancel" button wrap to a second line - all centered.

This is a general message dialog - if I change it, it would affect all dialogs with 3 buttons split to 2 lines.

So, please do not change it. And move this thread to "TC Behaviour which will not be changed".

I like the centered buttons. About the width of the dialog itself. It would be great if the dialog was (horizontally) resizable. Look at a feature request I did over 10 years ago for the exact same request on the copy/move dialog, but was sadly never implemented: viewtopic.php?p=231203#p231203

By making it resizable, you can view long paths when you want.
