Speed up searching in xxl folders

When searching for a filename or folder (Ctrl + S) in an xxl folder (hundreds of thousands of files), the algorithm you have searches one character by one, taking extremely long to get an exact match.

Can you modify the process so that you first try an exact match, and then an exact match minus extension, only then follow up with the slow search?

Would speed up locating perfect matches greatly, and would beat having to always use "cd folder1" in xxl folders, or having to use windows explorer when browsing large folders.

And any other optimizations that you might think for large folders would help. TC gets stuck regularly when opening large folders, perhaps an option to stream the result (like Windows Explorer) would be a great feature to have.
