Problem with uploading files via FTP

Post by *kud »

TC 11.50. I have a problem with uploading files via FTP (SSL/TLS). Downloading files works without any issues, but during upload, the transfer pauses between some files and waits for a few seconds. The problem occurs in Windows 11. I have been using TC with the same configuration for years, and the same TC version works fine on Windows 10. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

update
When I disable the SSL function, everything works correctly. The problem is not on the server side because everything works fine on another computer with Windows 10.

Try disabling Windows Defender during transfers.
We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...

I do not have this problem with any of my servers, with and without SSL. What server software do you use?

Windows Defender is disabled, and ESET is installed. I tried disabling ESET, but the problem remains the same. When using FileZilla, everything works correctly.
Every FTP serverm, for example - Pure-FTPD.The problem occurs only on this one computer.

ghisler(Author): I haven't had the chance before—congratulations on TC! I've been using it since its inception :) Total Commander is a great tool.

I'm using Pure-FTPd myself on ghisler.com, no problems. Please contact me by e-mail for a test account on ghisler.com, this way we could find out whether the problem occurs on the client side or the server side.

I sent a message to you, Ghisler. My problem looks like this https://youtu.be/7Tq50W7R8r4
It happens on every server. When I use FileZilla, everything works fine.
When I use sftp (scp) in TC download works fine.

It could be noted that in video the transfer dialog had not closed after the first Cancel.

In your video, Total Commander sent a SIZE command after you clicked "Cancel" to check whether the server has received the last uploaded file or not. Apparently the server isn't responding to that SIZE command after aborting the transfer. That's why you have to press "Cancel" a second time, to also stop that SIZE command. This will force close the hanging connection.

Thanks for explaining reasons of this "double tap"; even though it was not my video.
