Featue request (compare of XML files)

Post by *Verndroid »

Hi!

I use the compare feature of Total commander heavily to compare different versions of source-code and am very happy with the way TotalCommander performs in that respect.

But when trying to compare XML files total commander is a bit lacking! :)

An XML-fil doesn't necessarily contain any linebreaks so trying to compare two 2mb xml-files results in one line in the total commanders compare window which is marked as containing a difference. Not an easy thing to spot.

I would like to request an enhancement to this feature that would enable Total Commander to compare XML-files in a fashion that makes it easy to spot the differences even if the XML-file is without line-breaks. The way Internet Explorer shows an XML-file would be a fine way to represent it in Total Commanders compare window and would make it easy to spot the differences.

If any of the above is in anyway unclear don't hesitate to ask questions. I will answer as well as I can.

Thank you for a most excellent program.

As a workaround, you might give a shot to an xml beautifier.
The file becomes more readable anyway ;-)
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

XML Beautifier coming. Then I will see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestion! :)
