Can't get Ctrl-Enter to work in command line

Using TC 5.51

I enter a command in the command line and want it to run with the "current file". In the help file it says this can be done with Ctrl-Enter, but when I try all that happens is that the command text is selected?

Ctrl+Enter works only if last character in command line is a space.
